This perspective has yielded a number of new combinatorial results mostly involving the false theta functions of L.J. Rogers. We shall discuss the efficacy of this approach and shall apply it to various partition theoretic and combinatorial questions including "concave compositions" and "concatenable spiral self-avoiding walks."
