Alladi has studied extensively a partial theta function identity in the lost notebook. After a brief survey on how my work is related with Alladi's, I am going to give an application of partial theta function identities to unimodal ranks. I am also going to introduce partial indefinite theta series identities based on a recent joint work with J. Lovejoy.
