Paul PollackAffiliation: University of Georgia Email: pollack@math.uga.edu Title Of Talk: Phi-nomenology and torsion subgroups of CM elliptic curves Abstract: I will discuss recent results with Abbey Bourdon and Pete Clark concerning torsion subgroups of CM elliptic curves over number fields of varying degree. From the analytic point of view, the critical input comes from the theory surrounding Euler's phi-function and the "anatomical" structure of shifted primes.
