Ole WarnaarAffiliation: University of Melbourne Email: warnaar@ms.unimelb.edu.au Title Of Talk: Macdonald polynomials and basic hypergeometric series Abstract: In this talk I will show how many well known results in the theory of basic hypergeometric series can be generalised to the multivariable setting using Macdonald polynomial theory. Key tools, new to the multivariable theory, are lambda rings and the double affine Hecke algebra. No prior knowledge of these notions will be assumed in my talk.
