Partition identities and a continued fraction
of Ramanujan

ABSTRACT:
According to Bruce Berndt, Ramanujan is
the all time greatest on continued fractions. Although
Ramanujan established several very appealing results
on continued fractions, he published only his findings
on the continued fraction associated with the Rogers-
Ramanujan identities. My talk will be about my paper
with Basil Gordon:
K. Alladi and B. Gordon, "Partition identities and a continued
fraction of Ramanujan", J. Comb. Th. A, 63 (1993), 275-300
in which we show how several fundamental partition identities
are connected to a continued fraction R(a,b) of Ramanujan in
two free parameters.
