MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT ACADEMIC EVENTS - SPRING 2007

The University of Florida Mathematics Department is having yet another spring term packed with high quality academic events. Many (but not all) events are connected with the Special Year in Logic 2006-07.

January 25 - March 31
VISIT OF EVAN PUGH PROFESSOR GEORGE ANDREWS (Penn State University) Professor Andrews will give SIX LECTURES. Dates of lectures: Feb 6 (Joint NTC Seminar), Feb 13 (NT Seminar), Feb 19 (Math Colloquium), Feb 20 (NT Seminar), Feb 27 (NT Seminar), and Mar 6 (Joint NTC Seminar).

HISTORY LECTURE by Professor Gerald Sacks (Harvard and MIT) at 4:00 pm in LIT 339 (Atrium).
February 5 - 10
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MODEL THEORY AND COMPUTABLE MODEL THEORY organized by Douglas Cenzer and Jindrich Zapletal.
March 5 - 11
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CARDINAL COMBINATORICS AND INNER MODEL THEORY organized by William Mitchell (UF), Matthew Foreman (UC Irvine), and John Steel (UC Berkeley).

NINTH ERDOS COLLOQUIUM BY PROFESSOR MENACHEM MAGIDOR (President, Hebrew University, Jerusalem) at 4:05 pm (Room TBA).
March 10 - 13
ANNUAL MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION OF SYMBOLIC LOGIC
Monday, March 19
FIRST RAMANUJAN COLLOQUIUM BY PROFESSOR MANJUL BHARGAVA (Princeton University) at 4:05 pm. This will be followed by several seminars by Professor Bhargava during the week of Mar 19-23. The Ramanujan Colloquium is sponsored by Professor George Andrews.
May 5 - 11
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SET THEORY OF THE REALS organized by Jindrich Zapletal (UF), Alexander Kechris (Caltech), and Stevo Todorcevic (U. Toronto & CNRS Paris).
